The Annual Fund The centerpiece of fund raising at PJDS is the school's Annual Fund appeal (AFPS Annual Fund for Perelman Schechter) raising unrestricted dollars. Tuition covers only 80-82% of the cost of educating a child at PJDS. Our Federation allocation represents another 8-10%. Therefore, each year the school must raise 9-11% of its budget to support enrichment, faculty recruitment and retention, professional growth and financial assistance. Annual Giving is a three pronged effort relying on the direct mail Annual Fund for Perelman Schechter (AFPS) appeal in the fall, a Tribute event in the spring, and a calendar ad book tied to the Tribute Event.
Memorial and Celebratory General and Library Donations Memorial and Celebratory donations are another form of unrestricted giving to PJDS. Tribute gifts also help to make up the difference between the cost of education and tuition. The amount requested for sending out memorial or tribute cards is $10. Dedications of books in the school libraries in honor or memory of a person or occasion is $25. Contributions may be made online or contact Anita Bloovman at 610-658-2518 ext 208 or at abloovman@pjds.org.
Endowment Giving PJDS' goal is to grow its endowment to $40 million. Thanks to the generosity of Sidney Kimmel the school is well on its way to make this goal a reality. We would like to establish endowment funds in the areas of financial assistance, professional development, and programming. These funds will establish a legacy that will support the school for generations to come. Gifts of $25,000 and more can be considered for a named fund.
Capital Giving The Mission 1000 Capital/Endowment Building Campaign has raised $23 million to ensure that the school is equipped with the programming, space, and endowment necessary to move the school securely into the twenty-first century. Currently the school is in a quiet major gifts phase of this campaign. Mission 1000 will soon launch the Torah Talmidaynu campaign portion which will allow every member of the Perelman/Schechter "family" the opportunity to participate in this institution shaping endeavor.
Planned Giving National statistics reveal that in the next decade over $10 trillion is expected to change hands through individual estates. Estate gifts in various forms are magnificent acts of tzedaka, especially when they memorialize the donor's name in perpetuity.
