Welcome to the Stern Center. As you
arrive on campus, one notices the beauty and majesty of the
building that houses over 300 students in grades K-5. The
outdoor facilities include two soccer fields, two baseball/softball
fields and four playgrounds. Yet, one must go inside to fully
appreciate the true beauty of the interpersonal relationships
within. Whether it be a team of grade level teachers meeting
to plan and implement new teaching strategies, or Judaic
and General Studies faculty integrating the curriculum, the
faculty is truly the heart and soul of the school. It is
their passion for teaching that translates into our students' passion
for learning.
At the Stern Center, we pride ourselves in teaching the whole child, academically,
emotionally, physically, socially and spiritually. Teachers often work with children
one on one or in small learning groups. Teachers from different grade levels
spend part of each day giving instructional support as well as enrichment to
students other than those in their own grade. They are able to utilize a fully
supplied science lab, as well as a computer lab with more than 20 computers.
Each individual classroom is equipped with its own computers. Two learning specialists,
along with a reading and a Math specialist work not only with students, but faculty
alike to help implement and teach individual and group educational plans.
What sets the Perelman Jewish day School aside from other private day schools
is its dual curriculum. Our school Rabbi not only leads (Monday services/Friday
services,) but also meets weekly with each classroom as well as with individual
teachers. He, along with our Judaic Studies Coordinator, assists the Judaic Studies
Staff in teaching the Hebrew Language, Bible, Rabbinics, Jewish Holidays and
Jewish History. A child-centered synagogue is used not only for daily services,
but instruction as well.
The Stern Center has a full size elementary school gymnasium, along with separate
music and art rooms. The auditorium comes alive with musical and dramatic performances,
as well as biweekly Israeli dancing. A separate cafeteria allows students ample
time for lunch. The library with books in both English and Hebrew will soon receive
a major gift, which will help build a children's reading center where students
will have the opportunity to relax with a good book or audiotape.
We are a school constantly on the move. An active parent body supports the program.
The Parent Teacher Organization makes numerous contributions on behalf of the
students and faculty. Together we work to give our children all that they need
to not just succeed in school, but to succeed in life.
