Fourth grade students meet with Temple University professor to discuss global temperature trends
Fourth grade students integrated what they learned in both their natural disasters unit and graphing and data unit to speak with fourth grade parent and Temple University Mathematics Professor Noa Kraitzman, who discussed global temperature trends as well as her work with sea ice data and climate. Students were excited to apply their knowledge of line graphs and averages to understand the trends they were discussing.
During their graphing unit, students learned about data, tables, bar graphs, line graphs, and how to analyze the mean, median, mode, and range. They also applied their nonfiction reading, writing, and research skills to their learning about topics such as avalanches, volcanoes, floods, tsunamis, and wildfires.
Bringing science and math together, students are learning how to use their knowledge and tools to seek solutions.
