Annual World Music Concert Celebrates Musical Diversity
This year’s World Music Concert took Perelman students on a journey to Brazil, from the comfort of their classrooms!
Students were visited by renowned guitarist Orlando Haddad, Orlando’s music is influenced by Brazilian bossa nova and semi-classical choros. A native of Lavras in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, Orlando has been a bandleader since the age of 12! Orlando’s music – and his unique background – was an inspiration to our students, whose own love of music is already taking root.
Perelman’s annual World Music Concert celebrates diverse cultures, ethnicities, and countries in memory of Sharon Shapiro, musician and beloved sister of alumni parent Mindy Shapiro. Mindy established this annual interactive concert to bring musicians from all over the world to Perelman and expand our students’ lives through the power of music.
