Students in first grade completed their first writing publications of the school year with expository writing pieces. They selected one place that was important to them from a more expansive list they had generated, which they used as the foundation of their piece, included specific details about the place, and drew accompanying visuals.
Once they completed them, students shared their pieces with their classmates for peer discussion and communal celebration of their accomplishments. Some classes even celebrated this accomplishment by marching around the entire school to cheers from fellow students and teachers!
Our students learn to be curious thinkers as our teachers provide opportunities for them to connect with and feel empowered in their learning.
