Perelman & jkidphilly Host Rosh Hashanah Through the Five Senses
We were proud to partner with jkidphilly to host two exciting Rosh Hashanah community events held at each of our campuses!
During these interactive events, children used their senses to hear, see, taste, smell, and touch the symbols of the Jewish New Year. A Rosh Hashanah read-aloud was led by special guest readers which included our principals, Dr. Emily Cook and Chagit Nusbaum; Director of Hebrew Language and Jewish Studies, Dr. Limor Carasso; and Gan teachers, Robyn Petrilli and Gili Bitan.
Our very own Rabbi Chaim Galfand explained the significance of the shofar this time of year before demonstrating how the shofar is blown – allowing the children to experience the sound of the holiday as they learned about this particular sense.
Families were then treated to a delicious bagel brunch featuring a Schmear It station to create their own Rosh Hashanah-themed schmears inspired by Rosh Hashanah culinary traditions from around the world!
This event was an engaging way to bring in the New Year through learning and community!
